RABO, Developer of Cat Healthcare Devices, Raises 800 Million Yen

RABO, developer of the cat healthcare device “Catlog,” announced on the 21st that it has raised 800 million yen through a third-party allocation of shares to Moon Creative Ventures (a Mitsui & Co. subsidiary), Canon Marketing Japan MIRAI Fund, United, and existing investors STRIVE and MPower Partners, along with financing from financial institutions. The company’s total funding now amounts to 3 billion yen.
The Catlog developed by RABO is a collar-type device that automatically records a cat’s behavior. AI identifies and records behaviors such as eating, exercise, grooming, and sleep 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It features the ability to detect changes in a cat’s behavior patterns or “lack of energy” states and notify users.
The litter mat-type device “Catlog Board” can be used immediately by simply placing it under a cat’s litter box. It automatically measures the cat’s weight, amount and frequency of excretion, and timing. When changes are detected in the measurements, notifications are sent, allowing owners to notice changes in their cat’s health condition early. These devices have been used for 30,000 cats to date.
Along with this funding round, RABO announced that it has formed a capital and business alliance with Moon Creative Ventures and has begun developing a “dog version of Catlog.” They are advancing development for simultaneous release of the service in Japan and the US. In addition, they plan to accelerate the expansion of Catlog both in Japan and globally.
